It has been very, veeeery long time since I wrote something in my journal . (To say the least
Well, time has come and I have finally some new stuff to submit.
Last weekend I finished what probably is my biggest personal project (outside work) up to date. It's the biggest one in terms of time and effort spent on a singular theme. All this was linked to the 2012 Carnival, organized by my local community (neighbors and friends).
After last year success with the mummy costume (you can find it in my gallery "Me and the wife") I got inspired. So, for this year, I proposed to expand the experience from a single monster into a whole army of monsters. The theme was called "Case Nuove (our town district name) HorrorShow" .
From a single proposal, the amount of work exploded and in the end I became art director, costume designer, Carro (floater) builder, mask maker, makeup teacher etc etc ...
I have never dreamt about the amount of work that was needed to create and coordinate around 40 monsters In the end for the 4 carnival parades that we participated in, I created 15 latex character masks, a couple of hundreds zombie latex wounds, a handful of monster hands, around 20 costumes, plus the overall direction of the rest and, I almost forgot , the 3 meters scull ,made by cardboard boxes.
Other then the group of Zombies, Vampires, Ghosts and Witches I am proud of the cast of characters that represented our crew:
Frankenstein, Freddy Krueger, Jack Skellington and Sally (Nightmare before Christmas), Grim reaper, Pinhead (Hellraiser), Jason, Hannibal Lector, Wolfman, the Mummy (returned from last year), The Devil and his wife, A Demon lord (and his wife), TwoFace, The corpse bride, A Mad doctor, Terminator and a Forrest Demon .
Lots of fun and some really hairy nights when I thought I was going mad. Well, it's time now to upload some of this works and see what you think.
Have a good one and hope you had as great Carnival as I had. ☺
Cheers
